Join us on Saturday, December 5 from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. for Family Affair, a seasonal afternoon program that promotes the special bond between parents/guardians and their children (ages 12 and under) through art-making activities. First Fridays at the Bronx Museum

December is an important month in Bangladeshi history; December 16, 1971 marks the end of its Liberation War. For this First Fridays, on Friday, December 4 from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m., we present a night of traditional and contemporary song and dance by local performers and a conversation exploring Bengali histories in the diaspora today.

Before the event begins, Transitions curator Ayesha Akhtar will lead visitors through the exhibition. Tours will begin in the Community Gallery at 3:30 p.m., 4:30 p.m., and 5:15 p.m.

Join us in the Lower Gallery at 6:00 p.m for presentations by Vivek Bald, Tanwi Nandini Islam, and Alaudin Ullah. Followed by discussion moderated by Chaumtoli Huq. Musical and dance performances by local groups The Feringhees and the Bangladesh Institute of Performing Arts (BIPA).

Opening Reception: Transitions

Join us on Saturday, October 17 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. for an opening reception for Transitions: New Photography from Bangladesh, presented by The Bangladeshi American Creative Collective (BACC). Transitions features nine Bangladeshi photographers whose work reflects a diverse group of people, shifting economies, and changing lands. Its aim is to not only to collect and exhibit photography as art; but also as ideas about the country of Bangladesh. Participating artists include Arfun Ahmed, Taslima Akhter, Debashish Chakrabarty, Rasel Chowdhury, Samsul Alam Helal, Jannatul Mawa, Manir Mrittrik, Saikat Mojumder, and Tapash Paul.

Featuring special musical performances by Bashma Sheea and Rianjali.

Come enjoy mouth watering Bengali snacks from Jhal NYC! After a very successful start this summer at the Queens International Night Market (Flushing & Jamaica), Astoria Night Market, and LIC Flea, they're coming to the Bronx! They've got all your old favorites: jhal muri, chotpoti, and fuchka.
